Spotlight (seo.cavilconsult.com) is a website-check service run by Cavil Consult. This page explains what we collect when you use Spotlight or the Spotlight Fixer WordPress plugin, and what we do with it. Questions or deletion requests: digital@cavilconsult.com.

What we collect

  • Website addresses you check and the reports we make. To check a page we load it the way a browser or search engine would and save the results. Anyone with a report's link can open it.
  • Fix Center data. The fixes you edit or apply, your site's platform, and re-check results. If you connect WordPress, we store your Spotlight Fixer connection key encrypted, along with your site address and the plugin and WordPress versions.
  • Details you send us. Your name, email and message when you ask our team to fix something or contact us.
  • Payments. Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers. Stripe tells us your name, email, the package you bought, the amount and the website you entered.
  • Cookies. We use a small cookie so only the browser that opened a Fix Center can change it, and a sign-in cookie for our own staff. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Services we use

  • Stripe, to take payments (stripe.com/privacy).
  • Google PageSpeed Insights, which receives the address of the page being checked when the speed test is on (policies.google.com/privacy).
  • Our own hosting and mail server, where reports, Fix Center data and emails are kept.

What the WordPress plugin shares

The Spotlight Fixer plugin doesn't send anything on its own. After you paste your connection key into Spotlight, Spotlight reads the plugin's status (site address, versions, active fixes, images missing alt text) and switches fixes on or off when you ask it to. You can turn every fix off, make a new key or disconnect at any time from Settings > Spotlight Fixer in WordPress.

How we use it

To run the checks and fixes you ask for, to reply to you, to deliver work you pay for, and to send receipts and service emails. We don't sell your data.

How long we keep it

Reports and Fix Center data stay until you ask us to delete them. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires. To have your data deleted, email digital@cavilconsult.com with the website address and we'll remove it within 30 days.

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
